No flame adjustment

Model KCGS956ESS02. Purchased one year ago, converted to propane. Lacks flame adjustment on all burners. To adjust heat I switch burners. Is lack of adjust design of this model, is propane the problem? I live in a rural so I have limited service technicians available. I have a video but couldn't figure out how to send it to you.

New Natural Gas User

Cooktop with a great center burner.

This cooktop was included with a new home I recently purchased from Pulte Homes in Georgetown, Texas. The stainless steel finish is rough, scratched and stained which really takes away from an otherwise good appliance.

We like most everything about the cooktop. Our only suggestion concerns the lettering for the cook dials. I suppose we will eventually get more comfortable with the settings but it is very difficult to read the small non bold lettering used to indicate cooking temperatures. The light up dials are very nice.

Nice looking, but knobs get hot

I bought this cooktop as part of an overall kitchen remodel...and I couldn't be happier. I over analyzed all the brands finally settling on KitchenAid for value, features, reputation, and design. This installed perfectly (by the husband), the 36" width is so definitely worth it, and it's so easy to cleanup.

Love this cook top. Easy to use and control. Especially like the instant heat of gas. Plenty of burners for big projects, and it has a cook cast iron griddle we use for pancakes. It is a little harder to clean than a glass cook top, and I wish there was some kind of high temp mat underneath to help with cleaning.

Great stovetop

This is the stovetop that, during the build of our home, I moved from the island to the counter beneath the window and back again about 5 times. One of the great selling points is the light on the knobs to warn you that a burner has been left on, but if you put this in the island that doesn't help you since the stove is now facing the kitchen and not the living area. Learned that after we moved in. Anyway, I love the cooktop and I love how fast I can get things done. I'm still learning just the right setting to heat something fast but not burn it, so I seem to be always tweaking where the knobs are turned. But we've only been in the house for a month and we don't cook a whole lot. One of my big pet peeves is the grates of these getting sticky and not being able to get them clean and not sticky. I talked with the appliance salesperson about this and she gave me some ideas that will hopefully prevent that from happening. It's too new now to have developed that problem. I wipe the surface down with a Lysol wipe after each use, and it's looking good. Weekly we take a stainless steel wipe to all of these appliances as well as to the front of the apron on the kitchen sink.

I haven't had the cooktop long enough to totally feel comfortable with it yet. However, I do like the grates and burners. I do not like the indicators on the knobs to turn the burners on and off. They are way too difficult to read. We purchased the griddle, and really like using it.

We compared this model Kitchenaide and the GE. We liked both but knew Kitchenaide was a better quality and was built in America. The one feature we liked on the GE was the backlit knobs. When we were looking at the Kitchenaide I didn't see that as a feaure. Imaging my delight when I used it for the first time and wow backlit knobs. The only negative I would have is the settings on the knobs are so faint you can barely see them. Other than that this is a great cooktop.

Hard to clean

I bought this cooktop 6 months ago and it looks OLD it's hard to clean the grates and the surface already stained it's not what it says that the finish is easy to clean I already have discolor on the grates and the cooktop service from high heat and the light ring already fell off from the heat VERY disappointed

Not the same 36"

Recently bought this cooktop to replace a circa 10yr old 36in Kitchenaid unit. Be aware that although the same size (36in) and manufacturer it might not fit without expensive countertop alterations. It required about 1/4in opening increase to fit and therefore does beg the question why? Otherwise an excellent product and would have scored higher.

We purchased this cooktop because we like the Kitchenaid name and product line.We thought it would give us more cooking space.We have had it about 3 weeks and it is beautiful to use, especially the center burner! I also like the fact that the knobs light up when turned on! We use gas to cook and its nice to see when the burners are on even when the fire is not. I only wish the knobs had more protection from the heat. I would recommend this cooktop!

Ok features, but idiotic design

Pros: + Metal knobs + Etched lettering so that it doesn't come off with cleaning + Simmer /power burner Cons: - Worse design than GE. The dials are spread out all along the bottom vs clustering them in the middle. This leads to a loss in cooktop space because the grates are just a rectangle vs extending to the bottom on either side to pick up extra grate space (see the 30" model to see what the extended grate looks like) - Poor dial and big burner placement also means that if you try to put a big pan in front, it encroaches on the dials underneath. Kitchenaid should have either clustered the dials in the center so large pots in front don't overhang, or put the larger burners in back and brought the smaller burners forward. - The grates just sit on top without a good locking mechanism. Just a small piece of rubber to go over a nubbin. The grates still move around. Again here too, the GE cooktop did much better. The similar tier GE cooktop we were looking at has a full recessed perimeter in the metal body so there's no way the grate feet could get out of that enclosed space. I don't recommend this model.

Great Stove Top!!!

I would have given it 5 stars but it is very hard to read the information around the dials. I had to memorize the settings for each of the dials because I can't see them without a lighted magnifying glass. The print is so faint. The burners though and the ease of clean-up are fabulous.

We have been using our new cooktop for a couple of months and couldn't be happier. The design is clean and modern. The protective finish makes clean up easy. The grates distribute the heat evenly for efficiency and browning. Simmer burner is especially useful for soups and stews.

I love that there isn't 2 little tiny burners on this cooktop. The center burner is so quick to bring things to boil. The griddle is not the best design though. You can can 3 grilled cheese sandwiches on it for our family that just means we're eating in shifts
